Back in January we had scheduled a house concert with Cape Breton fiddler Andrea Beaton, Northumbrian piper Dick Hensold, and guitar wizard Dean Magraw. Alas, the US authorities did not process the visa application in time, and the entire tour had to be cancelled. Now Andrea has her visa in hand, the tour has been rescheduled (no small effort!) – and we are back on!
So, mark your calendar for Sunday May 15 to see three amazing musicians in a beautiful and intimate setting.
Tickets are $20. For more information, e-mail me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Andrea Beaton comes from a long line of musicians, composers and dancers – the famous Beaton Family of Cape Breton Island. Known for her powerful bow and driving style, she is an award-winning fiddler, tune composer and recording artist.
Dick Hensold is one of the foremost Northumbrian smallpipers in North America. He also plays Swedish bagpipes, Medieval greatpipes, Highland pipes, recorder, seljefløyte, and low whistle, and is an active composer, studio musician and theater musician.
Composer, arranger, producer, guitarist Dean Magraw has fine-tuned his “Heavy Meadow” approach to music from years of performing and recording with some of the finest musicians in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Oak & Thorn listeners may have heard his accompaniment of John Williams (accordionist from Solas) on their CD, “Raven.”
