Hi Anna, thanks for the nice note! The song you describe is “Tempete pour Sortir” by the Breton group Cabestan. The version I played comes from a double-CD compilation called “Fest Vraz” from the Keltia Musique label:
http://keltiamusique.com/fest-vraz.html
(I got this CD from a friend who went to Brittany for an international conference on Artichokes – no kidding – and I asked him to bring me back some ethnic music…)
The Cabestan CDs are also on the Keltia label, just use their Search feature. Pretty sure you can order direct.
Cabestan is also on iTunes, I think.
Breton music is hard to find in the US, but there are some download sites (in French, but not hard to figure out) on the Net.
Glad you liked that song, it is an amazing piece of music. Thanks again for the comment here.
Hello…I loved your show. There was a piece that came a bit before ‘Herr Oluf”…a group of deep male voices singing to the accompaniment of a special kind of bagpipe…a smaller one…ringing any bells? I couldn’t remember what it was called by the time I got your list…I thought it was the celtic music from Brittany, but the sample I found didn’t have the piece I remembered. If you know the piece I am referring to could you please send me some details about it so I might hear it again someday? Thanks so much. Anna
